GroupWise Training
WebAccess
To access GroupWise away from work, go to http://gw.ksu.edu and you will be redirected to the GroupWise server. Due to this redirect your browser will bring up a message about accepting the certificate - click "OK" and may bring up a message about a domain mismatch, say "OK" here too. Now, you can log in with your GroupWise userid and password. Note the GroupWise password may not be the same as your Novell or workstation passwords. To change your GroupWise password, open your desktop GroupWise and choose Tools/Options/Security.
Understanding the Toolbar
GroupWise toolbars are on the top and left of the main window. The top toolbar has three icons - help, options, and exit. The toolbar on the left provides links to your mailbox, compose an item, search the Address Book, view your Calendar and search for documents. See the icon descriptions below.

Mailboxes and Folders
WebAccess Mailbox set up is identical to your desktop GroupWise which makes navigating around WebAccess much easier.
Calendar
Your calendar is available through WebAccess. Click on the date to see another day's appointments. Create appointments, tasks and notes here too.

Address Book
WebAccess does not use Name Completion so unless you know the entire email address (DSPHelp@gw.ksu.edu) you will need to use the Address Book to identify addresses when composing a message or an appointment.
- Begin by clicking on the icon that resembles a Rolodex. It may take a little while to activate the address book the first time you launch it.
- Search by First Name or Last Name. Choose your search option, type in the name and click on "Search Address Book" .
- Double click on Name to move to recipient column or else highlight Name and click on To:, CC: or BC: to manually move.
- Click on Mail button to launch the Mail Message box.
GroupWise WebAccess makes it easy to set up vacation rules
First, click on the Options icon at the top of GroupWise WebAccess. It looks like a check box with two red check marks.
![]()
Click on the Rules tab. Beside Type, choose Vacation and click on the Create button.
Fill in the information: rule name, subject and message. Click Save. The rule will be active as soon as you create it. Deactivate the rule by unchecking the box beside the rule. This is handy if you want to create the rule early but want to wait to activate it. Plus the rule will be available to use for future vacations: just change the subject and message and activate it (check in the box).
